The next visit you will be having your braces removed.  YEEEHHHH!

Buuuuutttt, you will still need to wear retainers.

What will happen next appointment?

1.      The braces will be taken off your teeth.

2.      The teeth will be polished so that any remaining glue is removed from your teeth.

3.      You will then have some impressions taken so that we can make your retainers from the moulds of your straight teeth.

4.      You can choose which style of retainer you would like. See the photos and samples provided.

5. You will be referred for some further x- rays so that we can assess the final position of the teeth.  You will need to go to the Radiographers to have these done.  Make sure you have the referral form with you thanks.  You will also ideally need your Medicare card, or they can invoice you.

6.   You will come back to the Orthodontic Surgery the next day to have your retainers fitted.  Remember, to bring your x-rays with you please.

7.   You will have final photos taken at the Orthodontic Surgery

8.   We will see you again in 4 weeks to check that you are wearing your retainers.

Would you also like a Mouthguard made?

We would highly recommend that you use a sports guard.  If you would like one made, what colour would you like?  See the chart provided.  The cost of the Mouthguard is $100-$150.  The health insurance item number for this service is 151.

Would you like Bleaching Splints made?

The clear plastic retainer can be used as ‘bleaching splints’ as well.

The bleaching kit is costly but is optional.

Tooth treatments

These products will strengthen your teeth after your brace is removed and are highly recommended. A Fluoride gel is used inside your retainers in the morning and a Calcium ‘tooth mousse’ treatment in the retainer at night time. The receptionist will quote you these prices at the surgery or you can buy these products at the chemist or supermarket

Please tell the receptionist at your braces off appointment what you would like.  Ta.
